The earthworks remain of Voreda Roman fort occupied from the 1st to 4th centuries. The vicus appears to have been abandoned in circa AD300. It is a large rectangular platform, measuring some 150 by 100 yards with the central platform still standing to a height of about 8 feet. It was built on the Roman road that stretches between Carlisle (Luguvalium) and Brough (Verteris) forts. It stands next to Castlesteads Farm and is easily visible from the road.
