Motte and bailey castle with an inner and an outer bailey which lie to the south of motte on the highest point of the ridge. The motte is 180 feet in diameter and 40 feet high with a summit 60 feet across. It is first recorded in 1146 and is thought to have been built by Robert de Montalt.
