The oval earthwork enclosure close to Llanfor church is almost entirely surrounded by a bank 9 - 12 feet high, with an outer ditch, enclosing an area 80 by 60 feet. It may date from the 11th century, but it was superceded in the 12th century by nearby Tomen y Bala.
