Rhysnant Hall Motte

In the community of Llandysilio.
In the historic county of Montgomeryshire (Modern authority of Powys, preserved county of Powys).

Very mutilated ringwork. Spurgeon writes motte with top dug away. An almost circular mound measuring 45m across and up to 3.7m high and surrounded by a ditch 1.7m deep except on the SSE which is protected by a steep natural slope. The interior of the mound is 'hollowed' to a depth of 2.5m.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Cropmarks/slight earthworks remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
