Hughs Castle, Llandeilo Talybont
Also known as, or recorded in historical
documents as; Tal y Bont; Castell Du; Castle Hu; Banc y Rhyfel; Talybonet in Gower
In the community of Grovesend.
In the historic county of Glamorgan (Modern authority
of Swansea, preserved county of West Glamorgan).
A ditched, flat-topped mound, c.32-5m in diameter, the counterscarp of which extends to enclose an irregular area, c.50m E-W by 40m, to the S, where buildings have been observed on APs. Erosion to the motte revealed it to have been based on a natural mound. Castle captured by Rhys ap Gruffydd in 1215 and may be castle recorded as taken by welsh in 1116.
