Llangathen Castle

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Allt y Gaer

In the community of Llangathen.
In the historic county of Carmarthenshire (Modern authority of Carmarthenshire, preserved county of Dyfed).

Reid writes, of a site he places 3.5 miles west of Llandeilo, "Lord Rhys is said to have built this small castle, now badly ruined, at the time he held Carreg Cennen Castle as part of the inheritance of Dynevor in the last part of C12. Nothing seems to have been recorded of its history." It is unclear as to what Reid is referring to but I assume it is to Allt y Gaer a possible medieval fortified house.

This site has been described as a;
Fortified Manor House.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Questionable.
Masonry ruins/remnants remains.
