In 1483, Philippe de Carteret was possibly granted a Royal licence to crenellate (St Ouen's Manor)

There is insufficient evidence to be certain about this possible licence to crenellate.


Rebuilt by Philippe de Carteret in 1483. Salter writes he was granted a licence to crenellate, presumably at this date. Philippe de Carteret was the chief local supporter of Edward IV during his reoccupation of the island from the french.
