In 1376 Oct 10, Nicholaus Benton (Ad requisitionem dilecti et fidelis nostri Willielmi de Monte Acuto, Comitis Sarum) was granted, by Edward III, (In year 50 of his reign) a Royal licence to crenellate Fallardeston (Faulston)

"Licence, at the request of William de Monte Acuto,earl of Salisbury, for Nicholas Benton to crenellate the walls of his houses in the manor (muros domorum suarum in manerio suo de) Fallardeston, co. Wilts"

(In fact, the original source given is usually a transcription/translation of what are precious medieval documents not readily availably. It should be noted that these transcription/translations often date to the nineteenth or early twentieth centuries and that unwitting bias of transcribers may affect the translation.
