In 1341 Oct 18, Reginaldus de Codham (Lord Cobham) was granted, by Edward III, (In year 15 of his reign) a Royal licence to crenellate Orkesdene (Orkesdene)

The wording of this licence is;

"Licence for Reginald de Cobharn to crenellate his dwelling-places (mansum) of Pringham and Orkesdene."

Granted at Westminster, by privy seal.


Reginaldus de Codham was granted a licence to crenellate his 'mansum' at Orkesdene, Kent in 1341 - with Pringham. Orkesdene was a sub manor with Eynsford manor. I can find no record of a specific location for Orkesdene but I wonder if the Tudor mansion, later called Lullingstone House, was built on the site of house. Emery places this at Austin Lodge.
