In 1337 Aug 30, Robert, Episcopus Sarum (Bishop Erghum) was granted, by Edward III, (In year 11 of his reign) a Royal licence to crenellate Flet-strete (Salisbury Court, Fleet Street)

The wording of this licence is;

"Licence for Robert, bishop of Salisbury, to crenellate the dwelling-places of his manors (mansum manerii) of Salisbury, Wodeford Bishops, Shireburn, Cherdestok, Poterne, Cannyngges, Remmesbury and Sonnyng, and of the manor (manerium) of Fletstrete, London."

Granted at Westminster, by privy seal.


Licensed in 1337 and licence ratified in 1377. A licence for multiple properties of the bishop.
