List of Licences to Crenellate

This is a list of the buildings, in England and Wales, known or suggested to have been granted a licence to crenellate. There are also included some other documents that have been proposed as licences to crenellate, but which current opinion now rejects as such. Also in the list are two houses licenced to be fortified but specifically without crenellations (Haddon Hall and Moigne Court, Owermoigne). It should be noted that the original sources of this information is handwritten medieval latin and that different authors have transcribed some of the words (particuarly place names) differently. I have put alternative transcription in [square brackets]. Information not given but derived from context or other sources is in {curly brackets}.
