Leigh Drummers; The Castle

In the civil parish of Leigh.
In the historic county of Dorset (Modern Authority of Dorset, 1974 county of Dorset).

Called oval ditched enclosure of possible castle by Wilton and described in PastScape as "An Iron Age univallate non-defensive enclosure. The monument takes the form of an oval enclosure measuring 310m N-S with a weak inner bank of an average 8m width. To the south east and north east are two entrances both causewayed and measuring c.4m in width." It is clearly not a medieval castle on the bases of site description, plan and location.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
This site is rejected as a medieval fortification or palace.
