Wythop Hall

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Wythehope in Derwentefelles

In the civil parish of Wythop.
In the historic county of Cumberland (Modern Authority of Cumbria, 1974 county of Cumbria).

Hugh Lowther received a licence to crenellate, on 12 July 1318, for his 'house at Wythehope'. It was ruinous in 1671 and entirely replaced by the present Wythop Hall in 1678, there being no trace of earlier work in the present building.

This site has been described as a;
Fortified Manor House.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Nothing visible remains.
