Ridings

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; ye Rydings; Ridding howme

In the civil parish of Kirkandrews.
In the historic county of Cumberland (Modern Authority of Cumbria, 1974 county of Cumbria).

Vanished tower shown on map of 1590 marked 'ye Rydings' and on 1607 platt, as houses, marked 'Ridding howme'. The owner of the Ridings notes that there is a pile of overgrown rubble north of the farm on the site of an old railway siding, but within the wood, which may be the site of the stonehouse.
