Levington Hall

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Kirklinton; Kirklington; Levinton Hall

In the civil parish of Hethersgill.
In the historic county of Cumberland (Modern Authority of Cumbria, 1974 county of Cumbria).

King writes 'Remains of some ditches belonging to probable tower mentioned in 1590'. These moats enclose quite a sizable area on the 1868 OS 6' map. The aerial photo shows little sign of this moat now but at the point marked 'site of castle' on the 1868 map is a small square feature, and there are vaguer signs of a rectangular feature to the south, possibly an attached hall block. Was manorial centre and was traditionally strongly fortified.Shown on Aglionby's "Platt" of 1590, though this may be possible Tower house in Kirklinton Hall

This site has been described as a;

The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
