Titlington Tower

In the civil parish of Hedgeley.
In the historic county of Northumberland (Modern Authority of Northumberland, 1974 county of Northumberland).

A tower is recorded in 1542; this had a decaying roof and the battlements had never been finished. The tower had belonged to Kirkham monastery but was royal property in 1542. The pele tower was either completely demolished or incorporated into a new house in 1745. In 1824, the 1745 building was demolished and replaced. Some sources suggest the tower was built on the summit of the motte of the castle (qv) and that the motte was truncated when the tower was demolished.

This site has been described as a;
Pele Tower.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Earthworks remains.
