Woolmer Hunting Lodge

In the civil parish of Bramshott and Liphook/ Binsted.
In the historic county of Hampshire (Modern Authority of Hampshire, 1974 county of Hampshire).

A hunting lodge was built for Edward I in Woolmer Forest in 1284-85. This included a stone built hall with an undercroft accompanied by timber framed kitchen and subsidiary buildings. The hall's dimension is given as 72ft long and 22ft wide. Its site may be marked by Woolmer Lodge which has Elizabethan or Jacobean stables. This site is close to Great Lodge (now Alice Holt Lodge) at SU84253408 or an alternative possible site for the lodge is a massive earthwork platform in Binsted at SU7942; The platform is up to 3m in height with emplacements for buildings around the edge. The site is badly damaged by 2 large drains. A third alternative site is Linchborough Lodge SU815333
