Camel Manor

In the civil parish of Queen Camel.
In the historic county of Somerset (Modern Authority of Somerset, 1974 county of Somerset).

Royal residential manor at time of Henry III. Surrendered by Hubert de Burgh to Henry III in 1228, who then spent £163 13s 2d on building a residential hall before returning the manor to Hubert five years later. This is tentatively linked to small moat in Coages Park (Ref given) which is described as a hunting lodge. PastScape dates this as C16 but SMR gives no date.

This site has been described as a;
Palace.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Earthworks remains.
