Forest of Kinver Hunting Lodge

In the historic county of Staffordshire (Modern Authority of Staffordshire, 1974 county of Staffordshire).

Royal hunting lodge of the Forest of Kinver, recorded 1184-5. This was also the site of a gaol for forest offenders enclosed by a palisade 5m high defended by a gateway with a brattice. This was almost certainly Stourton Castle (qv) but some sources suggest location is uncertain and could well be in Worcestershire.

This site has been described as a;
Palace.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Masonry footings remains.
