Depeden

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Depden; Debden

In the civil parish of Debden.
In the historic county of Essex (Modern Authority of Essex, 1974 county of Essex).

Humphrey de Bohun was granted licence to crenellate his 'mansum manerii' at Depeden, Essex in 1347. Parker identifies this as Depden, near Saffron Walden, now spelt Debden.

This site has been described as a;
Fortified Manor House.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Nothing visible remains.

A Royal licence to crenellate was granted in 1347 Dec 22.
