In the historic county of Oxfordshire (Modern Authority of Oxfordshire, 1974 county of Oxfordshire).

Licence to crenellate issued to Robert de Arden, in 1329, for Dratton Oxfordshire. Presumably this is Drayton near Banbury where Robert de Arden was granted a charter for a fair on 3 Feb 1329 and also the 'part of a gate from whose house still survives' mentioned by Leland.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Nothing visible remains.

A Royal licence to crenellate was granted in 1329 Jan 25.
