Chard Bishops Palace

In the civil parish of Chard Town.
In the historic county of Somerset (Modern Authority of Somerset, 1974 county of Somerset).

The Bishops of Bath and Wells held the manor of Chard and appear to have had a residence there from C12 which appears to have been disused by the middle of C14. The site is but the location of Manor Farm suggests that it lay near the church. The description of the southern boundary of the new borough established in 1320 as at "the gate of our court" may suggest that it extended (or was sited) further north.

This site has been described as a;
Palace.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Nothing visible remains.
