Kingerby Village Defences

In the civil parish of Osgodby.
In the historic county of Lincolnshire (Modern Authority of Lincolnshire, 1974 county of Lincolnshire).

In C12 and C13, a planned village grew up around the castle (qv), including an ecclesiatical complex around the nearby church. This may have been in the outer bailey of the castle and have been defended. In C17, the village was depopulated, and in 1812 the manor house was demolished and replaced by Kingerby Hall.

This site has been described as a;
Urban Defence.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Questionable.
Nothing visible remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
