Hickleton Castle Hill

In the civil parish of Hickleton.
In the historic county of Yorkshire West Riding (Modern Authority of Doncaster, 1974 county of South Yorkshire).

Birch mentions as a castle site at Hickleton. This is described as a motte and bailey close by the church largely disappeared from sight. A Castle Hill is marked on the 1851 OS map as site of Old Quarry. The castle has long since vanished but it was recorded by C17 antiquary Roger Dodsworth.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Nothing visible remains.
