Abberley Castle

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Abbatsley

In the civil parish of Abberley.
In the historic county of Worcestershire (Modern Authority of Worcestershire, 1974 county of Hereford and Worcester).

King writes only mentioned in Leland's time. However, elsewhere it has been written that, in C15, 'a fortification built on the site rated as one of the seven major castles of Worcestershire' At this late date this presumably meant a masonry building probably on site of C19 Abberly Hall. PastScape record reads "There is documentary reference to Abberley Castle by Leland, who states that there was a castle at Abberley in the time of the Earl of Warwick, presumably the Earl attainted in the reign of Henry VII. The site is not known, but may be the site of the later Abberley Hall"

This site has been described as a;
Masonry Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Nothing visible remains.
