Lyneham Hillock Wood

In the civil parish of Lyneham.
In the historic county of Wiltshire (Modern Authority of Wiltshire, 1974 county of Wiltshire).

mentioned as motte and bailey by Pevsner, nothing on ground now, rejected by King as old OS map shows shapeless earthworks nothing like a motte and bailey. Creighton writes the earthworks are eroded hollow-ways.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
This site is rejected as a medieval fortification or palace.
