Edithmead Motte, Burnham

In the civil parish of Burham Without.
In the historic county of Somerset (Modern Authority of Somerset, 1974 county of Somerset).

Earthwork remains of a mutilated motte and bailey. The site, previously thought to be a moated enclosure was excavated in 1961. A collection of C14 pottery was found.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Cropmarks/slight earthworks remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
