South Moreton Castle

In the civil parish of South Moreton.
In the historic county of Berkshire (Modern Authority of Oxfordshire, 1974 county of Oxfordshire).

Medieval motte and ditch surviving as earthworks. The motte is a roughly circular mound 4m high, 40m in diameter at its summit and 50 across at the base. The ditch surounds it on all but the western side. This is 15m wide and 2m deep. The gap on the western side is 10m wide. South Moreton parish had four manors in the medieval period.

This site has been described as a;
