Broomhaugh; The Dower House

In the civil parish of Broomhaugh and Riding.
In the historic county of Northumberland (Modern Authority of Northumberland, 1974 county of Northumberland).

The Dower House is a largely C18 and C19 building, which has been built around an early C17 building. This earlier structure could be a bastle. The house became the dower house of Styford Estate in C18.

This site has been described as a;
Bastle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Masonry ruins/remnants remains.


This site is a Grade 2 listed building protected by law*. (Images of England number 240422)
