Knockburn Farmhouse

In the civil parish of Allendale.
In the historic county of Northumberland (Modern Authority of Northumberland, 1974 county of Northumberland).

On the west bank of the Knockshield Burn is Knockburn farmhouse. The central part of the house is a bastle. Although it has been altered since the 1980s, some characteristic bastle features are still visible. They include a boulder plinth and typical long quoins, as well as some blocked slit vents.

This site has been described as a;
Bastle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Uncertain remains.
