Cross House, Allendale

In the civil parish of Allendale.
In the historic county of Northumberland (Modern Authority of Northumberland, 1974 county of Northumberland).

Cross House may originally have been a bastle. It is built of massive stones and the walls seem to be at least 1m thick. The house has been altered in the late C20 so no old features are visible. Both bastle doors have been blocked. A slightly narrower extension and a barn are attached.

This site has been described as a;
Bastle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Masonry ruins/remnants remains.
