Wardrew House

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Wardrew Lodge; Overhall; Greenhole

In the civil parish of Thirlwall.
In the historic county of Cumberland (Modern Authority of Northumberland, 1974 county of Northumberland).

Bastle with walls 1 m thick. Salter gives no map reference and locates this in Cumbria. The house of this name appears to be at the reference given and to be in Northumberland. However, in Shielings and Bastles Ramm describes a farmstead, he calls Wardrew, NW of Wardrew Farm at NY63656845 (Marked Greenhole (in ruins) on the 1865 map) as a rectangular building 37.5ft by 18ft with opposed central doorways. Neither location is in PastScape or SMR.

Bastle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Questionable.
Masonry ruins/remnants remains.
