High Brunton Mound, Wall

In the civil parish of Wall.
In the historic county of Northumberland (Modern Authority of Northumberland, 1974 county of Northumberland).

Site of an artifical mound, 59 ft. in diameter and four ft. high, destroyed by quarrying. Excavation failed to discover any evidence for its purpose, it does not appear to have been a barrow. Called a possible motte by Jackson, but this does not seem to be a manorial centre, but site beside road and overlooking rare crossing of River North Tyne so has some stategic value.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Questionable.
Nothing visible remains.
