Weedon Lois Castle Mound

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Lois Weedon; Wedone; Weedon Pinkney; Weedon St Loys; Loys Weedon

In the civil parish of Weston And Weedon.
In the historic county of Northamptonshire (Modern Authority of Northamptonshire, 1974 county of Northamptonshire).

Motte or ringwork in the centre of Weedon Lois village. Thought to be contemporary with a motte at Sulgrave dated as late C11. The remains are tree covered and in poor condition. They now consist of a roughly rectangular raised area, some 2m high, with a flat top, but with traces of a low bank along its north side. There are no traces of a ditch.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Cropmarks/slight earthworks remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
