Temple Manor, Temple Hirst

In the civil parish of Temple Hirst.
In the historic county of Yorkshire West Riding (Modern Authority of North Yorkshire, 1974 county of North Yorkshire).

Salter writes "Late medieval brick house remnant" of house called castle in C16 "of several turrets and a moat". PastScape report reads "Temple Farm, Templehirst, has late Norman features, and was formerly a Preceptory of the Templars founded 1152, dissolved 1308-12. The modernised farmhouse now on the site contains no external remains of antiquity apart from a late Norman doorway reset in a projecting porch on the south front. Fishponds, associated with the site, but no longer extant, are also recorded." Emery calls this a brick fortified house of late C15 date.
