Carlton in Coverdale Round Hill

In the civil parish of Carlton Town.
In the historic county of Yorkshire North Riding (Modern Authority of North Yorkshire, 1974 county of North Yorkshire).

Medieval motte consisting of an earthen mound about 32m in diameter and 3.7m high constructed from spoil from the surrounding ditch. The top is relatively flat, 9m diameter, and apparently dressed stones have been noted protruding from the ground.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle
Masonry Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Earthworks remains.
