Gresham Castle
In the civil parish of Gresham.
In the historic county of Norfolk (Modern Authority of Norfolk, 1974 county of Norfolk).
Fortified Manor House, licence to crenellate granted to Sir Edmund Bacon in 1319. In 1450 it was captured without much effort by Lord Moleyns from John Paston. Flint. Plan, square with corner turrets. Moated site. Walls now lm - 3m high. Circa 40m square with corner turrets c10m diameter, these at north east, north west and south west visible. Inside the walls now very overgrown, the wall now a retaining wall for earth inside. It is reported that large timbers of a drawbridge and an entrance to a passage along with the keel of a boat where found in 1846 when the moat was cleaned out.
