Hautbois Castle

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Great Hautboys; Hautbois Magna; Magna Hautboys

In the civil parish of Coltishall.
In the historic county of Norfolk (Modern Authority of Norfolk, 1974 county of Norfolk).

Probable site of Hautbois Castle, built in 1312. A sub rectangular castle mound raised above a marsh and approached by a causeway. A short stretch of flint and mortar foundation can be traced on the mound. More a fortified manor house than a castle. Licence to crenellate granted in 1313.
