Shenley Church End; The Toot

In the civil parish of Shenley Church End.
In the historic county of Buckinghamshire (Modern Authority of Milton Keynes, 1974 county of Buckinghamshire).

The site, known as The Toot, comprises a complex of earthworks covering an area of circa 4 hectares, including a large motte like mound after which the site is named. These earthworks mark the probable site of a medieval or post-medieval house, possibly of manorial status, with gardens and associated enclosures. At least two distinct phases of medieval or post-medieval layout can be recognised as well as possible further landscaping in C18.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Earthworks remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
