Wrangle Kings Hill

In the civil parish of Wrangle.
In the historic county of Lincolnshire (Modern Authority of Lincolnshire, 1974 county of Lincolnshire).

Medieval motte and bailey, part of which is still visible as earthworks, although some areas have been completely ploughed out. The motte is circular in plan 60m in diameter and 2m high and surounded by a ditch 2m deep. The bailey to the south was also moated. It measures 60m north south by 70m east west. The site is believed to be associated with a manorial estate established during C11 and C12, in the early C17 this passed to James I and the site became known as Kings Hill.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Cropmarks/slight earthworks remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
