Fleet Motte

In the civil parish of Fleet.
In the historic county of Lincolnshire (Modern Authority of Lincolnshire, 1974 county of Lincolnshire).

Mound excavated in 1913 produced Saxo-Norman pottery. Survives only as large circular crop mark with vague rectangular cropmark to the east (possibly a bailey?). The records of the excavation are held by Spalding Gentlemens Club. PastScape record suggest this may have been a tumulus reused as a motte. Although close to village this is not the obvious manorial centre, the cropmarks do make this look like quite a sizable motte and bailey.
