Thurland Castle
Also known as, or recorded in historical
documents as; Thusland; Thorslond; Fyrrelande
In the civil parish of Cantsfield.
In the historic county of Lancashire (Modern Authority of Lancashire, 1974 county of Lancashire).
Castle, originally built in C14, licence to crenellate of 1402 granted to Sir Thomas Tunstall and destroyed in a siege of 1643. The remains are incorporated in C19 rebuild (reusing much original material) of the castle.
This site has been described as a;
Masonry Castle.
