Romney

In the civil parish of Old Romney.
In the historic county of Kent (Modern Authority of Kent, 1974 county of Kent).

Unidentified castle reported by Moore. The obvious candidate for this castle must be the large moated site north of Old Romney village. The PastScape records this as "Possible moated sites linked together by a bank. Excavations have located buildings on both, one associated with human remains. Fieldname evidence suggests this may have been the site of a Medieval hospital." The building now called 'The Manor House' is just outside the moat. There are several DMV's in Old Romney CP but no other site in PastScape would appear to be another candidate for this supposed castle.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Questionable.
Earthworks remains.
