Ightham Mote
Also known as, or recorded in historical
documents as; The Moat
In the civil parish of Ightham.
In the historic county of Kent (Modern Authority of Kent, 1974 county of Kent).
Medieval moated manor house of courtyard plan. The earliest stone buildings, all built within a few years of each other, date from the mid C14 and comprise an open hall, two solar ranges and a chapel. In the late C15 the west range was built and in C16 and C17 the core of the rest of the site was completed, and remains largely unchanged to this day.
