Chesterton Mound

In the civil parish of Chesterton.
In the historic county of Huntingdonshire (Modern Authority of Cambridgeshire, 1974 county of Cambridgeshire).

Mound rejected by King as C18 viewpoint. Described in the PastScape as 'Roman earthen barrow situated 380m north of Hill Farm on the crest of Chesterton Hill south of the remains of the Roman town Durobrivae. The mound is a substantial earthwork with a flat platform top. Its profile indicates a 0.6m top layer added for later reuse, possibly as a Medieval mill mound. The mound may also have been reused in various periods as a Roman signal station and a Medieval beacon.'
