Diggets Wood Mound

In the civil parish of Kilpeck.
In the historic county of Herefordshire (Modern Authority of Herefordshire, 1974 county of Hereford and Worcester).

The mound averaging 18m diam and up to 2m high is unlikely to be a motte as it lies within what ws formerly an artificial pond or lake formed by damming the Morlas Brook, The E portion of this dam remains at SO44072950 & the mound is prob an artificial island. During 1973-4 the mound was levelled by bulldozing prep to being ploughed. The site & spoil were examined & nothing was found.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Questionable.
Nothing visible remains.
