Castle Frome

In the civil parish of Castle Frome.
In the historic county of Herefordshire (Modern Authority of Herefordshire, 1974 county of Hereford and Worcester).

Earthwork remains of a Motte or ringwork and bailey castle. The motte is 60yds in diameter and rises 14ft above the bailey, with traces of a possible shell keep. There is slight sinking on the top. A scarp to the east and south probably indicates the outline of the bailey. Extending along the south west of the motte is a sunken way partly protected on the west side, possibly dating to shortly after the Norman conquest.

This site has been described as a;
Masonry Castle
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Earthworks remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
