Camp Wood Mound, Upper Lye

In the civil parish of Aymestrey.
In the historic county of Herefordshire (Modern Authority of Herefordshire, 1974 county of Hereford and Worcester).

Earthwork remains of a ringwork in Camp Wood. The mound is 41yds in diameter at the base and 17ft in height. it has a continuous rampart except on the west side, and is surrounded except towards the end of the spur, by a ditch 10ft deep. The castle was founded by Hugh Mortimer circa 1144 to 1154 AD.
