Queen Margarets Camp, Tewkesbury

In the civil parish of Tewkesbury.
In the historic county of Gloucestershire (Modern Authority of Gloucestershire, 1974 county of Gloucestershire).

Commenly clased as a motte and bailey but King writes only domestic moat as does Salter. PastScape record is "A Medieval moat and an associated system of water management features. The moat is 8m wide and 1.5m deep and encloses an island 30m square. To the south the land slopes away towards an L shaped pond. An elaborate system of ditches seem to have channelled water from the moat to the pond. The sites name comes from the battle of 1471 when Queen Margaret is said to have spent the night before the battle in this area."
