Staunton Coleford Castle Field

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; The Castle Meadow

In the civil parish of Staunton Coleford.
In the historic county of Gloucestershire (Modern Authority of Gloucestershire, 1974 county of Gloucestershire).

Slight earthworks of moated manor house site in provocative field name. The house was 'utterly decayed' in 1578 and no trace was visible above ground by the middle of C19. The earthwork remains of a number of parallel banks and a ditch possibly associated with the site of the manor house were mapped from aerial photographs.

This site has been described as a;
Fortified Manor House.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Possible.
Cropmarks/slight earthworks remains.
